Probiotics contains over four billion beneficial organisms or common bacteria which are helpful to the body in many ways. Probiotics are needed if the normal bacteria of the body have been depleted for any reason.
Probiotics help build the "good" bacteria of the body which is reduced by the consumption of alcohol, red meats, refined foods, fat, sugar, a generally poor diet, stress and exposure to harmful chemicals found in chlorinated water and pesticides found in foods and water. Counter the adverse effects of antibiotic use on the normal intestinal bacteria.
The body needs 6-16 billion organisms daily.
You should take a good probiotic if you:
- Have a fever blister, cold sore or canker sores
- Are taking an antibiotic for a respiratory or other type of infection
- Are lactose intolerant or have a milk-based allergy
- Have any type of digestive disorder such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, indigestion, "stomach flu," and colitis
- Helps relieve symptoms of Crohn’s Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Have a vaginal yeast infection or bladder infections
- Are traveling out of the country and thus at risk for developing diarrhea
- Have a baby with diaper rash
- Are a teenager or adult with acne
- Have eaten chicken (since most chickens are fed antibiotics)
NOTE: If you have a cold sore or a baby with diaper rash, make a probiotic paste by mixing the contents of the capsule with a small amount of water and applying the paste to the affected area.
RECOMMENDATION: If you are currently taking antibiotics, take the dose of probiotics four hours after the antibiotic, or take the probiotic between doses of antibiotic.
